I do not have any formal education in art. All of what I do is as a self-taught artist. My first introduction into drawing and painting occurred when I was ten years old at the discovery of the western art of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell. Both of these excellent artists inspired me to want to pursue a western theme to my work. Over the years I have been less restrictive in my artwork and have been more flexible as to what I choose as a subject matter. My interests have expanded to include both people and animals and some interest in landscape.

I am an artist that attempts to use drama in my pictures to exploit themes with universal appeal. With my art I try to utilize themes with universal appeal so as to deliberately seek new ways to make my viewers an eyewitness to my vivid experience. In my work I try to ensure no area of the art is wasted; each makes a contribution, through placement, line, tone, or color, to the whole story. Through these details, my viewers eyes are led purposefully toward the focal center.

Research is paramount in my art to appeal to the viewer’s maximum attention. As an historian, I have an intense and loyal interest in Americana. My work displays an impressionistic approach in the manipulation of average human life. Not just as a watercolorist, attempts to master other forms of art also plays a significant role in my exploration of art. I am first and foremost influenced by the works of master illustrators such as Howard Pile, Frederic Remington, Charles Russell, and N.C. Wyeth.
